Spirit Face Hounds in Saginaw Wednesday

Saginaw, MI - The Saginaw Spirit return to the ice this Wednesday night facing the Soo Greyhounds in the only game being played in the Ontario Hockey League this evening. The Spirit and the Hounds drop the puck at 7:05 p.m. Upper Level tickets for all Students and Military are $7 tonight with proper identification.

The Spirit have dropped three straight home games after falling twice this past weekend to the Sarnia Sting, 6-1 on Saturday and the Kitchener Rangers, 2-1 on Sunday.

Saginaw got strong play from goaltender Tristan Lennox who made 23 saves in a win last Wednesday night in Flint and 24 saves in a 2-1 loss to Kitchener on Sunday. The New York Islanders prospect is now 4-3 on the season with a 2.67 goals against average and an .888 save percentage.

The West Division-leading Greyhounds are one of the most prolific offensive teams in the entire OHL. Led by a league-high, four players with 20 or more points, the Hounds lead the OHL in team goals for (73). Calgary Flames prospect Rory Kerins leads the Greyhounds attack with 24 points, but overagers Tye Kartye (23) and Cole MacKay (21) are not far behind. St. Louis Blues draft Tanner Dickinson is the other 20+ point-getter for the Soo (22).

In goal, Import Samuel Ivanov is second in the OHL in minutes played behind London's Brett Brochu, who has started every game the Knights have played in this season. Ivanov is 8-5 with a 3.97 goals against average and a .889 save percentage. Ivanov was the goalie of record in the Soo's victory over Saginaw earlier this month.

Tonight is the 145th meeting all-time between the Spirit and the Greyhounds. Saginaw is 66-63-11-4 in those matchups and 38-26-6-1 all-time at The Dow against the Soo. The Spirit have won the last three head-to-head meetings with the Soo in Saginaw's home building.
