With eight players still at NHL training camps, Saginaw's youngsters once again have an opportunity to take center stage. 2023 OHL Priority Selection picks Graydon Jones and Carson Harmer received call-ups from their Jr. B teams ahead of the weekend against the Soo. 2021 first round pick Luke McNamara picked up a pair of points in Erie at the beginning of September, co-leading the preseason scoring with 2023 CHL Import Draft pick Valentin Zhugin. Other Spirit rookies in Aiden Young and Jacob Cloutier will get another chance to impress, and for Cloutier, it will be his first chance to play against older brother Justin in an OHL game.

The Greyhounds have split a pair of preseason contests thus far, most recently with a 6-3 win over the Sudbury Wolves on Wednesday. Owen Allard's three assist lead the way, while Ethan Montroy has a pair of goals to his credit. While captain Bryce McConnell-Barker is away at New York Rangers training camp, Justin Cloutier has donned the 'C' in the Hounds most recent preseason contest.

Saginaw currently rosters four NHL-drafted players in Braden Haché (Florida), Hunter Haight (Minnesota), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas) and Joey Willis (Nashville).

The Soo's NHL draftees include Andrew Gibson (Detroit), Arttu Karki (Vegas), Kirill Kudryavtsev (Vancouver), and Bryce McConnell-Barker (New York Rangers).
