Rangers Finish up Preseason at Home against the Steelheads

Kitchener, Ont. - The Kitchener Rangers will play their final preseason game tonight at The Aud against the Mississauga Steelheads. The puck will drop at 7 p.m.

Head- to- Head:

The Rangers own an 8-3-1 record over the last 12 meetings with the Steelheads. The Blueshirts have now won four out of five games played against Mississauga over the last three preseasons.

Scouting the Rangers:

The Rangers came out on top against the Steelheads last night with 10 different players recording a point and four players tallying a multi-point night. Rangers' first-year player Matheas Stark was the star of the show with four goals, one of them being the game-winning goal. Stark has now played in all five pre-season games with the Rangers and collected six goals. Centerman Cameron Mercer had three assists in last night's match; he now has six assists in five games played. Tanner Lam received two assists against the Steelheads last night, making that five points in five pre-season games. Three Rangers sit on the board for the top five scorers in the OHL in the preseason thus far, Carson Rehkopf (5G, 6A), Matthew Sop (3G, 6A) are first and second respectively, while Trent Swick (3G, 4A) sits fifth. First-year players Matheas Stark and Tanner Lam both have three-game point streaks.

The Rangers remain without Matthew Andonovski (Ottawa), Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver), Tomas Hamara (Ottawa), and Carson Rehkopf (Seattle) as they stay up at their NHL training camps.

Scouting the Steelheads:

The Mississauga Steelheads made a trade for overager Marc Boudreau from the Sudbury Wolves on September 20th, Boudreau made a strong first appearance for the Steelheads with two points (1G, 1A). Mississauga centerman Lucas Karmiris got onto the scoresheet twice with both a goal and an assist. Karmiris finished the 2022-23 season with 18 points (6G, 12A) in 63 games played in his first year in the OHL. Adam Zidlicky returns to The Aud for the first time since January 4th when he played for the Rangers. Zidlicky has two points (1G, 1A) so far this preseason.

Mississauga will play without three of their top players as they remain at their respective NHL training camps; Angus MacDonell (Dallas), Finn Harding (Detroit), Kai Schwindt (Florida).
