Peterborough, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit (26-12-0-1) continues a weekend road trip against the Peterborough Petes (15-21-4-1) on Saturday, January 20th at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Last Time:
Saginaw's last game was a 4-2 win over the Ottawa 67's at TD Place on Friday night. The Spirit scored halfway through the first before Ottawa responded with two goals. Michael Misa and Zayne Parekh scored, pushing Misa to the 20-goal plateau and Parekh just above to 21. Lincoln Moore scored his fifth of the year, and Josh Bloom scored his first goal since being reassigned to the Spirit on January 5th. Andrew Oke started for the Spirit, stopping 24 of 26 shots.
Peterborough's last contest was a 7-1 road loss against East Division rival Oshawa on Friday night. The Generals jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the of the first period, then tacked on another goal early into the second before the Petes responded. Oshawa then rattled off three more of their own goals, setting a 7-1 scoreline that the Generals held up until the final buzzer. Braydon McCallum scored the lone goal for the Petes helped out by Carson Cameron and former Spirit forward Aiden Young.
This Season:
Saginaw last faced the reigning OHL champion exactly two weeks ago, on January 6th, at the Dow Event Center, where they collected a convincing 6-2 win. Saginaw scored twice in the opening frame, followed by a combined five-goal second period with the Petes before a late goal in the third sealed the deal for the Spirit.
Zayne Parekh had a stellar four-point night (2G, 2A), and fellow D-man Braden Haché added his own two points (1G, 1A). Calem Mangone helped with a goal and an assist, with Michael Misa and Hunter Haight finishing with two assists each. Nolan Lalonde guarded the net, turning away 19 of 21 shots enroute to his 11th win of the year.
Chase Lefebvre finished with two points (1G, 1A) and got a point on every one of the Petes' goals. Quinton Pagé scored his fourth of the year halfway through the second for Peterborough's second goal of the contest, and Easton Rye started for Peterborough, racking up 36 saves on 42 shots for his second loss of the year.
Players to Watch
Zayne Parekh continues to lead the Spirit in points (61), assists (40), and goals (21), with his points and assist numbers both placed at the second spot among OHL defensemen. His 21 goals tie last season's production, and put him one away from tying Spirit alum Patrick McNeil for the most goals scored by a defensemen in one season (22 goals, 2006-2007). Michael Misa is Saginaw's leading forward scorer, netting 20 goals with seven on the powerplay. Owen Beck has been on a tear since being acquired by the Spirit, collecting ten points (3G, 7A) in just four games, including a six-point outing in his opening game with Saginaw. Andrew Oke leads the Spirit in all major goaltending categories, including a 3.06 goals against average (GAA) (seventh in the OHL), a .887 save percentage (SV%), and 16 wins.
Jonathan Melee is currently leading the Petes in goals (12), assists (22), and points (34). Peterborough's next highest point-getter is rookie Braydon McCallum, who has collected 21 points (6G, 15A) throughout his 38 games. Aiden Young will play his first game against his former team, collecting two assists in four games since being dealt.
