(Saginaw, MI) Saginaw Spirit General Manager and Head Coach Bob Mancini called into Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" Thursday night. Mancini joined Stephen Colbert, host of the Colbert Report, in accepting a challenge from the Mayor of Oshawa - if the Spirit lose the game against the Oshawa Generals this Friday, then Colbert will wear a Generals jersey on his show; if the Spirit win then Oshawa will honor Colbert with a "Stephen Colbert Day"

The Spirit were featured on the Tuesday, January 16th, 2007 episode of the Report. During the segment Colbert talked about a personal attack on him by the Oshawa Generals when they tossed teddy bears on the ice during a General's game. Colbert's has expressed on his show his concerns on the threat bears pose. Oshawa's Mayor countered with the above challenge.

Colbert took an interest in the Spirit last summer when he discovered the Saginaw Spirit "Name the Mini-Mascot" Contest. Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle debuted in September at the September 30th Spirit home game.
