Lowell Spinners News Release

BATAVIA, NY - Every member of the Lowell Spinners offense reached base at least once, as the Spinners scored five in the second and five more in the fourth en route to an 11-2 win over the Batavia Muckdogs Friday night at Dwyer Stadium.

Lowell (15-19) broke the game open in the top half of the second inning. After a Jordan Betts double and Cisco Tellez walk, Mike Meyers gave the Spinners a 2-0 lead with a triple to right. After a groundout scored Meyers, Bryan Hudson doubled and took third on a fly out. Danny Mars followed with a double of his own, scoring Hudson, before scoring himself when Raymel Flores infield single was exacerbated by a Batavia error, giving the Spinners a 5-0 lead.

After Batavia (18-15) pushed across a run in the bottom half of the third, 12 Spinners came to the plate in the fourth inning as they plated five additional runs. After Dubon lined out to lead off the inning, Hudson walked and David Sopilka followed with a single. A Mars single loaded the bases and after Flores struck out, Travis singled to plate the inning's first run. A bases loaded walk to Betts, followed by a Batavia error, infield single by Meyers and bases loaded walk for Dubon finally chased the Batavia starter before Chrisitan MacDonald stranded the bases loaded with the Spinners ahead, 10-1.

The score would remain there until the bottom half of the sixth inning when a couple of questionable scoring calls, both labeled hits, led to a Batavia run. The Spinners would answer for a run of their own in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Travis, for what would hold as an 11-2 final.

Kevin McAvoy started for the Spinners, throwing two hitless innings, striking out two. He has now thrown six scoreless frames to start his pro career. Mario Alcantara (1-0, 5.40) allowed a run on one hit over two innings, striking out three to earn the win. Show was the victim of the questionable scoring, being charged with one earned run on four hits, striking out one in two innings. Enfember Martinez and Rob Smorol finished out the game with three scoreless innings of their own.

It was an offensive parade for the Spinners, as three Spinners had three-hit games, led by Meyers, who also had three RBI. Mars and Travis also had three-hit nights, with Travis driving in two and Mars scoring a pair.

The Spinners now head to Auburn for a three-game set with the Doubledays. Ty Buttrey (0-0, 0.00) makes his second rehab appearance after throwing four hitless innings Monday with a 7:05 first pitch.
