Jacksonville Armada FC News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 3, 2015) - The Armada FC, Jacksonville's new professional soccer team, will kick off its much-awaited first regular season match North American Soccer League when it takes on FC Edmonton at EverBank Field tomorrow (Saturday, April 4), at 7:30 p.m., presented by McDonald's.
The Armada FC is aiming to set a new NASL attendance record for Jacksonville, which currently stands at 14,593. To help the team reach that goal, a spectacular series of events will take place before and during the match, starting with the Armada FC Can-Doo Kickoff Festival, presented by Community First Credit Union, which will be held at Metropolitan Park from noon until 6:50 p.m. Free-ride buses, courtesy of Community First, will run from the beaches to the event. The Armada will also host their regular Matchday Experience on the south side of EverBank Field from 5-7 p.m., which will feature concessions, music and the inflatable Armada Soccer Experience.
The Can-Doo Festival features live music from nationally-acclaimed band O.A.R., as well as canned craft beers and great food selections. Combo tickets, which allow entry to both the festival and the match, are available starting at $35 by visiting www.candoofest.com, www.armadafc.com or by calling 1.844.2.Armada. Match tickets only are also available starting at just $10.
Immediately following the concert, at 6:55 p.m., fans will be able to join the Armada FC March to the Match which will walk from the main gate at Met Park to EverBank Field. The pre-match buildup continues in-stadium with a firing of the Armada full-size military cannons, the "release" of the Armada Kraken, the Armada ceremonial Team Flag Raise by Armada FC General Manager Dario Sala, the U.S. and Canadian national anthems, team introductions and the pre-match coin toss, which will be conducted by NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson.
Halftime will feature the spectacular Armada Laser and Fireworks Show presented by McDonald's, hopefully to celebrate a NASL record attendance inside EverBank Field. The Armada players will sign fan autographs at the side of the pitch immediately following the match.
All Jacksonville citizens are encouraged to help the Armada #SetTheRecordJAX by purchasing tickets and attending the events at Met Park and EverBank Field. Tickets can be purchased at www.SetTheRecordJAX.com, www.armadafc.com or by calling 1.844.2.Armada.
