Special Kid Leads Off Kids Opening Day Tomorrow

April 21, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release

OTTAWA - Tomorrow's matinee matchup between the Lynx and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees is Kids Opening Day and one special kid will lead it off in style.

Bradley Wall, 16, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch Sunday afternoon. Bradley has Cystic Fibrosis. The Lynx asked the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario for help finding a deserving young pitcher to help celebrate Kids Opening Day in style. The Foundation led the Lynx to Bradley.

"He's very excited about it," said Bradley's father Patrick Wall. "He's definitely looking forward to it."

Two years ago, Bradley went on a cruise of the Caribbean, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario. When the pilot of his flight to Jamaica heard he was a Make-A-Wish recipient, he invited Bradley to tour the cockpit after their flight had landed.

Kids Opening Day is a spring tradition at Lynx Stadium. This year's festivities feature an appearance by the legendary Philly Phanatic. The first 5,000 kids through the gates will receive a magnet featuring the Phanatic and the Lynx mascot, Skratch. The first 100 kids will also receive a free popcorn.
