Sparks to Triple-A Louisville, Wahoos Add Former Major Leaguer Featherston

Blue Wahoos INF Taylor Sparks has earned his first promotion to AAA Louisville. He leaves on a hot streak having gone 9-for-16 over his last four games. He has raised his average from .226 to .246 over that span. Sparks was drafted in the second round out of UC Irvine. He has spent parts of the last three seasons with the Blue Wahoos over which time he's hit .206 with 20 home runs and 70 RBI.
In his place, the Reds have signed INF Taylor Featherston and assigned him to Pensacola. Featherston was a fifth round pick of the Rockies in 2011 out of TCU. He has played in 137 Major League games over three seasons with the Angels, Phillies and Rays. Most recently, he played in 17 games with the Rays in 2017.
This season, he played in 55 games with AAA Rochester in the Twins system prior to his release in mid-June. He was signed by the Kansas City T-Bones of the independent American Association where he was playing before agreeing on a deal with the Reds.
