Montgomery Biscuits News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Flo. - The Biscuits (55-48) played their third-consecutive three-hour game, but used it to take down the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (39-62) for a second-straight night, 10-5, on Wednesday evening at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Dalton Moats opened for the seventh time this season and delivered an impressive bottom of the first, striking out a pair and keeping the Shrimp off the board before handing the reigns to Benton Moss (3-4).

The Biscuits, who provided Moats with a 1-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to an RBI-fielder's choice by Mike Brosseau, struck again in the second when Brett Sullivan drilled Robert Dugger's (2-5) first pitch of the inning over the right field wall for the catcher's fifth home run of the season. Thomas Milone added an RBI-single later in the inning to make it 3-0 Montgomery midway through two.

Jacksonville would pull one back in the bottom of the second, as Joe Dunand, the first batter Moss saw, launched his third home run of the season over the left field wall, and then evened things up in the fourth with a Justin Twine sac fly and a Sharif Othman RBI-single.

After letting their early lead evaporate, the Biscuits finally pulled away in the fifth, ripping off three runs courtesy of RBI-singles from Nathan Lukes and Brosseau, and an RBI-double by Nick Solak to make it 6-3. A passed ball and a David Rodriguez RBI-single increased that lead to 8-3 in the seventh, before Rodriguez came up again in the ninth and crushed his first Double-A home run to make it a 10-3 game.

The Jumbo Shrimp got a two-run single from Brian Miller in the bottom of the ninth as the game's final two runs, but Moss was strong in relief, firing in six innings and allowing three runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts en route to his third win of the season.

The Biscuits will try to win the series on Thursday night when Genesis Cabrera (6-6) clashes with Merandy Gonzalez (1-5) at 6:05 PM CT.

The Biscuits will return home on Saturday, July 28 for Star Wars Night and MAX Fireworks as the Jackson Generals come to town for a five-game series. The series will also feature Bark in the Park as well as a Biscuits' backpack giveaway on Sunday, July 29, Golden Biscuits Monday on July 30, Dough Fest on Tuesday, July 31, and Military Wednesday and Business Person Specials on August 1.
