Sox Return Home After Long Road Swing, Host Kelowna in Big Series
July 12, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Wenatchee AppleSox News Release
(Wenatchee, Wash.)- The AppleSox ended a nightmarish week on a very bright note last night, defeating the Corvallis Knights 4-0.
Wenatchee (22-10) allowed only two hits in what was a complete 180-degree turn from how things had gone throughout the eight day, nine game road trip. The Sox entered July on a tear at 18-3 overall, but since have struggled stringing together consecutive wins -- falling to 3-7 in their last 10 games. The win last night, however, went a long way in giving the Sox momentum as they head into a big series with Kelowna tonight.
The Falcons (18-12) sit three games back in the West Coast League's East Division after dropping two straight to Klamath Falls. The Sox still own a one game lead over Bellingham in the East Division, but the fact the three squads are separated by such a small margin makes this series ever important.
As playoff time nears, every win becomes more vital, and every loss is magnified that much more. The Sox will try to make sure they're on the right side of the shuffle when the playoffs arrive, and it starts tonight at 7:05 at Paul Thomas, Sr. Baseball Stadium.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.applesox.com or at the Town Toyota Center box office. General admission tickets will also be available at the stadium ticket booth, which will open at 6 pm.
