Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox were unable to hold on to a 7-0 lead as they fall 8-7 to the Oklahoma RedHawks in 11 innings.
Sox starter Jason Young struck 8 batters through his first 4 innings and threw 5 strong innings before faltering in the 6th. He gave way to the bullpen with Bobby Bevel picking up his 2nd loss of the year. Offensively the Sox pounded out 15 hits and were led by Ben Petrick and Garrett Atkins. Petrick collected 3 hits and Atkins got things started with his 9th home run of the year in the 4th inning. Cole Liniak led the RedHawks finishing with 3 hits and only needing a home run for the cycle.
The Sox and RedHawks square off in a double header Saturday with Denny Neagle (1-0, 3.75) making another rehab start with the Sox going up against Jamey Wright (2-0, 2.67) of Oklahoma in Game 1. In the second game of the double header Chris Michalak (5-5, 3.34) will go for the Sox against Robert Ellis (1-6, 6.32) of Oklahoma.
