Sox Drop Third Straight in OC

August 1, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

In a pitchers duel that didn't feature too many highlights, The Reno Silver Sox dropped their third straight game to the Orange County Flyers Tuesday by a final of 3-2.

Reno starter Nick Moran pitched six innings allowing three runs on seven hits and he struck out five.

The first runs of the game were scored when 1B Jose Rodriguez knocked in a run for the Silver Sox and Garry Templeton II singled in one for the Flyers to tie the game at one. All of the remaining runs scored in the game would be scored via the home run.

Unfortunately for the Sox, theirs was only a solo shot.

1B Peanut Williams gave the Flyers the lead with a two-run shot in the fifth inning making it 3-1, and LF Kane Simmons would extend his league lead in round trips in the sixth inning with his twelfth of the season. That would be all the scoring in this game.

Nick Casanova saved the game for OC starter Nate Holguin who pitched seven innings allowing only two runs.

Game two of this series can be heard Wednesday night starting at 6:45 with the Reno Silver Sox Pregame show on ESPN Radio 630 and streaming right here at Silversoxbaseball.com.

The Silver Sox return home on Friday to face the Armada.
