Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release
The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays stop into town for a quick three-game series against the Lansing Lugnuts from Wednesday, July 13 through Friday, July 15. The Rays split their last home series against Clinton and are currently in a heated race for the two second-half playoff spots in the Eastern Division. West Michigan, Lansing and Dayton are all elligible to make it and are currently neck-and-neck with Southwest Michigan.
Wednesday is NASCAR Night at the ballpark with all sorts of tickets, memorabilia and other goodies to be given away. Thirsty Thursday -- dollar beer and pop -- follows on July 14. The series ends on Friday when Rally makes a return appearance to C.O. Brown Stadium. All of these games begin at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:05 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 13: 7:05 p.m. NASCAR Night. Various show cars will be on display along with memorabilia. Race tickets will be given away courtesy of AAA of Michigan, Miller Lite, US Army and MIS. One pair of tickets to the Sunday, Aug. 21 Nextel Cup race, five pair to the Busch Series race on Saturday, Aug. 20 and five more pair to ARCO Night on Friday, Aug. 19. The night is sponsored by the Battle Creek Enquirer and WIN 98.5.
THURSDAY, JULY 14: 7:05 p.m. Thirsty Thursday. Selected beer and pop are $1 until the end of the seventh inning. There will be live music performed by the Rock and Blues Band Streetsmart in the left field bar following the game. The night is sponsored by Super Rock 104.9.
FRIDAY, JULY 15: 7:05 p.m. Rally! The entertaining mascot will delight fans and perform throughout the game. He was voted most popular outside mascot of the season on the team's website.
This just in: The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays and Charitable Union have partnered together to offer fans a unique buy-one, get-one offer. Fans are encouraged to bring a coat to the Thursday, July 21 Rays game against the West Michigan Whitecaps.
"We're excited to help Charitable Union begin their 2005-06 coat drive," Devil Rays General Manager Martie Cordaro said. "It is an important community endeavor that the Charitable Union and the Devil Rays are undertaking. We're asking all of our fans to support this cause with the donation of a coat."
In exchange for the coat, fans will receive a free ticket to the game if they purchase a ticket that night. Season ticket holders and fans that already have a ticket for that game will have the offer extended to any game for the rest of the season.
