South Carolina's Vanecek Named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Vitek Vanecek of the South Carolina Stingrays is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 9-15.

The 19-year-old went 1-0-1 with a 0.92 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage in two appearances last week.

Vanecek made 21 saves in a 2-1 shootout win against Orlando on Friday and stopped 22 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Solar Bears on?Saturday.

A second-round selection (39th overall) of the Washington?Capitals in the 2014 NHL?Entry Draft, Vanecek has appeared in 10 games for the Stingrays posting a record of 4-4-2 with one shutout. He ranks ninth in the league, and third among rookies, with a 1.99 goals-against average.

Prior to turning pro, Vanecek enjoyed extensive international experience representing the?Czech Republic. In 2013-14, he posted two shutouts, a 2.64 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage in 38 games with Billi Tygri Liberec of the Czech Republic's under-20 league and also represented the Czech Republic at the 2014 IIHF U18 World Championship, posting a 4-2-0 record with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage to help lead the Czech Republic to a silver medal.

Runners Up: Shane Owen, Indy (1-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .946 save pct.) and Jake Paterson,?Toledo (1-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .947 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Maxime Lagace (Idaho), Josh Robinson (Missouri), Ryan Faragher (Utah) and Franky Palazzese (Wheeling).
