South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals, have announced the signing of forward Troy Power Wednesday. The native of Camarillo, Calif. most recently spent time with the Norfolk Admirals earlier this season after playing with the Manchester Monarchs last year.

Currently in his second professional season, the 26-year-old had 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 45 regular season games with the Monarchs during his rookie year in 2015-16. Power also suited up for five postseason contests with Manchester, scoring one goal. Earlier this season the forward appeared in two games for Norfolk.

"Troy played in Manchester last year and was a really reliable piece for them," said Stingrays head coach Ryan Warsofsky. "He plays a 200-foot game and is a very smart hockey player. We're excited to add him to the mix, as he brings more depth to our group up front."

The forward played collegiately at UMass in the NCAA's Hockey East conference from 2010-15. Power appeared in 122 games with the Minutemen, scoring 50 points (20 goals, 30 assists).

Before his time at school, Power played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with both the Omaha Lancers and Tri-City Storm from 2007-10. His best year in juniors came in Omaha when he notched 44 points (28 goals, 16 assists) in 57 games during the 2009-10 season.

Power will wear No. 20 with the Rays, while new defenseman Max Nicastro will shift to No. 44.

The Stingrays return home to the Lowcountry this week to open a three-game series with the Colorado Eagles. All three games will be played at home Nov. 17 and 19 at 7:05 p.m., and Nov. 20 at 3:05.

Single-game tickets for the 2016-17 season are on sale now at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office and ticketmaster.com. Full and half season ticket plans are also available and more information can be found at stingrayshockey.com.
