South Bay Lakers News Release

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - The Atlanta Hawks announced today the team has signed South Bay Lakers guard Chaundee Brown Jr. to a two-way contract. Brown's NBA call-up marks the eleventh of the season for South Bay, the second most of any team in the G League, and the 46th in team history.

In 36 games (all starts) with South Bay during the Showcase Cup and 2021-22 NBA G League regular season, Brown averaged 15.5 points (.444 FG%, .829 FT%), 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 30.9 minutes per game.

Brown will return to Atlanta after signing with the Hawks earlier this season on December 27 to a 10-day contract. The 23-year-old appeared in three games during that stretch for Atlanta (two starts), averaging 9.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 27.7 minutes (.400 3FG%, .833 FT%).

After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, Brown joined the Los Angeles Lakers Summer League team, attended Lakers training camp and eventually earned himself a two-way deal with the team on November 16, 2021. The Orlando, Florida native appeared in two games for the Los Angeles Lakers and spent the majority of his time with the organization in South Bay.

Brown played collegiately at Wake Forest (2017-20) before transferring to Michigan (2020-21). During his senior season at Michigan, he helped lead the Wolverines to their fourth consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 and an appearance in the Elite Eight, en route to being named to the All-East Regional Team. Over his four-year collegiate career, Brown saw action in 112 games (77 starts), recording 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 24.6 minutes (.435 FG%, .352 3FG%, .812 FT%).
