NASHVILLE — As a result of an equipment drive held over the first two months of the season during games at Greer Stadium, the Nashville Sounds have made a donation of over 125 pieces of sports equipment to the Middle Tennessee R.B.I. (Reviving Baseball In Inner Cities) program.

The donated equipment includes bats, gloves, catcher's equipment, batting helmets, baseballs, baseball cleats, and various other items.

"Many of these children can't afford to buy equipment so donations like this really help," said Reggie Whittemore, the program's director. "We truly appreciate the efforts of the Nashville Sounds and what they do for these kids.

The Middle Tennessee R.B.I. program, which is run by area Boys & Girls Clubs, is made possible in conjunction with Major League Baseball and has expanded or established baseball and fast-pitch softball programs in more than 50 communities nationwide. The local chapter of the program is comprised of baseball and softball teams (boys and girls teams ranging from 6 yr. old boys to 13+ yr. old boys).

The Sounds also support the R.B.I. program throughout the year by hosting program games at Greer Stadium during the summer, providing a baseball clinic featuring Sounds players and coaches, and hosting an off-season awards dinner.
