Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Nashville win over Round Rock this evening at Greer Stadium OR an Iowa loss at Omaha tonight will secure the Sounds' third postseason trip in the last four seasons.
The Sounds lead the I-Cubs by three games in the PCL American Conference Northern Division entering tonight's action and the above scenario would ensure no worse than a season-ending tie for the division lead. Because Nashville won the season series against Iowa by a 9-7 margin, the Sounds would advance to the playoffs on a tiebreaker if the teams finish with an identical record.
Right-hander Carlos Villanueva takes the hill for the Sounds in this evening's 7 p.m. CT contest against the Express (AAA-Astros). Round Rock has already clinch the American Southern Division and would serve as Nashville's first-round playoff opponent next week.
