Tacoma - Adam Bass went eight innings, gave up just two runs and retired the last 12 men he faced to earn his ninth win of the season and lead the Sidewinders to a 4-2 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Friday night. Bass struck out eight and did not walk a batter.

Four different Sidewinders had RBI to support Bass' effort. Juan Brito's single in the second gave Tucson a 1-0 lead and Robby Hammock's 20th home run of the season tied the game at 2 in the fourth. Jon Weber and Scott Hairston had RBI singles in the sixth to give Tucson the final winning margin.

Bass allowed seven hits and hit three batters through the first four innings but settled in after that. He gave up a leadoff triple to Greg Dobbs in the fifth but struck out the side to strand Dobbs at third. Bass did not allow another baserunner.
