Seattle Sounders FC News Release
RENTON, Wash. - Due to the high demand for tickets to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final versus the Chicago Fire, the Sounders FC will open seats in the north end section of CenturyLink Field, known to fans as the Hawks Nest, the team announced today.
This will be the first time these seats have been open for a Sounders FC competitive match. Tickets are priced at $17 per seat and may be purchased at www.SoundersFC.com.
More than 30,000 tickets have been sold for the match. Seattle set an attendance record last year with 31,311 for the 2010 final.
The Rave Green are bidding to become the first team since 1969 to win three consecutive Open Cup titles and become only the fourth club in the tournament's 98-year history to achieve the feat.
This year's final will be held on Tuesday, October 4 on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
