Seattle Sounders FC News Release
RENTON, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC has re-signed goalkeeper Josh Ford, the club announced today. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms were not disclosed.
"We are very happy to bring Josh back in 2014," said Sporting Director Chris Henderson. "The work that he has done with goalkeeper coach Tom Dutra has helped him to be in a position to compete in goal. Josh is an up-and-coming goalkeeper with very good quality and has proven to be a great teammate in the clubhouse."
Ford, 26, has spent the last three seasons in Seattle after being selected in the first round (11th pick) of the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. The University of Connecticut product has made seven appearances in MLS Reserve League play, compiling a record of 3-3-1.
Named the 2010 Big East Goalkeeper of the Year, Ford set school records for wins (54), shutouts (50), and consecutive starts (85) at Connecticut from 2006-10. The Liverpool, NY, was sidelined for the majority of the 2013 season with a right patella fracture.
The agreement was executed prior to Major League Soccer's 5:00 p.m. ET blackout period on Wednesday, December 11 ahead of the 2013 MLS Re-Entry Process.
