Sounders FC Calls Two Tacoma Defiance Players up to First Team for Saturday's Match at Colorado
September 6, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Tacoma Defiance News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced that it has signed Tacoma Defiance players Nick Hinds and Shandon Hopeau to Short-Term Agreements, making both players available for the club's match at the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, September 7 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6:00 pm. PT / JOEtv, YouTube TV, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
International callups and injuries to players on Seattle's roster have made the club eligible for Extreme Hardship, which exists when a club has less than 14 outfield players available or has fewer than two goalkeepers available. As a result, The Rave Green have signed Hinds and Hopeau from the club's USL Championship affiliate to a short-term loan for Saturday's match.
Hinds, 21, has appeared in 20 games this season for Tacoma, his fourth total with the club's USL side. The Academy alum signed a USL contract in January of 2016 following two standout seasons at the University of Akron.
Hopeau, 20, has four goals and three assists in 22 appearances this season for Tacoma Defiance. This marks Hopeau's third season playing for the club's USL side after signing from the Academy in March of 2017.
Following a thrilling 4-3 win on Sunday over Western Conference rival LA Galaxy, Sounders FC (13-8-7, 46 points) travels to face the Colorado Rapids (8-14-6, 30 points) on Saturday, September 7 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, YouTube TV, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
