Sounders FC 2 Signs Antonee Burke-Gilroy and Jesse Daley from Australia

SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC 2 today announced that it has signed Australian midfielders Antonee Burke-Gilroy and Jesse Daley. Burke-Gilroy joins Sounders FC's USL side from the Newcastle Jets in Newcastle, while Daley joins the club from Queensland Lions FC in Brisbane. Burke-Gilroy's signing is pending receipt of his visa. The additions of the Aussies bring S2's roster to 16 contracted players. Additionally, Sounders FC Academy player Conrad Lee has been added to S2's squad as a USL Academy signing.

"We're excited to welcome Antonee and Jesse to the organization," said Sounders FC Director of Player Development Marc Nicholls. "Both players are a good age and have potential. We're looking forward to watching them learn and improve."

Burke-Gilroy, 20, has been a member of the Newcastle Jets A-League club as a full-time scholarship player. From January to June of 2017, he was on a six-month loan to club Academica Coimbra in Portugal.

Daley, 20, has four goals and one assist in five appearances for Lions FC in 2018. He is a former captain of his Brisbane Roar A-League Academy club.

"We're eager to start working with Antonee and Jesse," said S2 Head Coach John Hutchinson. "They are both promising young players that will improve our club in various areas."

S2 is 2-4-1 this season and is coming off a 0-0 draw at Colorado Springs on Saturday, April 21. In its last home game on Saturday, April 14, Sounders 2 earned a 3-2 comeback victory over Rio Grande Valley FC. After a 0-0 draw in a scrimmage at the University of Washington on Saturday, S2 returns to USL play this Sunday, May 6 against Sacramento Republic FC at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma (1:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
