SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC 2 today announced that it has released forward David Estrada. He led S2 in games played (33) and goals (11) in 2018, and ranked third in minutes played (1,962). The veteran also served as an Assistant Coach for Sounders FC Academy this past season after signing in March. S2's roster currently sits at 13 players ahead of the 2019 season.

"David had a great season for S2 and was instrumental in the development of our young players in our various programs," said Sounders FC Director of Player Development Marc Nicholls. "We feel very fortunate to have had David back with the Sounders family this past year, and fully support him in his future opportunities."

Estrada signed with Seattle on March 14, 2018 in a dual role as a player for S2 as well as an Assistant Coach for Sounders FC Academy. He was originally selected by Sounders FC in the First Round (11th overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft out of UCLA, where he went from walk-on to multiple All-Pac-12 performer. Estrada spent a little over four seasons with the club, including a career-best year in 2012 where he started 12 of 17 appearances and finished third on the club with five goals. The speedy attacker became the third player in club history to record a hat trick when he scored three goals against Toronto FC in the 2012 season opener at CenturyLink Field.

After his first stint with the club, Estrada played the 2014 season with D.C. United, where he recorded two assists in nine appearances. The Salinas, California native then spent the next five seasons in USL for Sacramento Republic FC, the Orange County Blues and Charlotte Independence before signing with S2 prior to the 2018 campaign.

S2 kicks off its 2019 campaign with a home match on March 9 at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, beginning the club's second season playing its home games in the South Sound. S2 will host Rio Grande Valley FC in the home opener, with the kickoff time to be announced at a later date.
