April 17, 2015 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Tacoma Defiance News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC 2 has signed forward Oalex Anderson (pronounced "OH-lex"), the club announced today. Anderson, 19, most recently played for Grenades FC of the Antigua and Barbuda Premier Division while on loan from System 3 FC of the NLA Premier League in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
Anderson scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for Grenades FC in the 2014 season. Prior to that, he was the top scorer in the NLA Premier League in 2013 while playing with System 3 FC.
"Oalex is a very exciting young forward who has already played in FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches," said S2 Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson. "To have so much pedigree at such a young age, we believe he has a lot of potential with us moving forward."
Anderson made his first international appearance for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on February 2, 2014 in a friendly against Dominica. He has since scored seven international goals, five of which came during 2014 Caribbean Cup qualification.
During the Sounders FC 2 match against Portland Timbers 2, Anderson was subbed into the contest in the 86th minute, replacing Andres Correa. S2 went on to win the match courtesy of a Giuliano Frano goal in the 88th minute. He subsequently went on to log 64 minutes in last night's loss to Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
S2's completes a two-match road swing in Oklahoma on Saturday, April 18 at OKC Energy FC (5:00 p.m. PT / SoundersFC.com). The team's next home contest is slated for Friday, May 1 against Orange County Blues FC, and tickets are available via sndrs.com/ut4w.
