
Sound Tigers Sign Gron to Amateur Tryout Contract

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (March 21, 2012) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have signed forward Tyler Gron to an amateur tryout contract (ATO). Gron will join the team in Binghamton as the Sound Tigers prepare to face the Senators tonight at 7:05 p.m.
Gron, 22, joins the Sound Tigers after recently completing his four-year collegiate career at Northern Michigan University.The Spruce Grove, AB native recorded 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) and 22 penalty minutes in 35 games this season with the Wildcats.
Over his four-year stint at Northern Michigan, the 5'11, 195-pound forward amassed 97 points (48 points, 49 assists) in 140 games. Prior to his collegiate career, Gron spent three years in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, splitting time between the Spruce Grove Saints and Fort McMurray Oil Barons. In 171 games, Gron compiled 159 points (77 goals, 82 assists) and 117 penalty minutes.
The Sound Tigers face the Binghamton Senators at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena at 7:00 p.m. before ending their road trip in Springfield against the Falcons on Friday. The Sound Tigers return home to open an eight-game homestand on Sunday, March 25 against the Connecticut Whale.
