
Pirates Open Voting for Team Awards, Presented by Creative Awards

Portland, Maine - The Portland Pirates announced today that ballots are now being accepted for the 2011-12 Pirates Player Awards, presented by Creative Awards.
Fans can vote online at www.portlandpirates.com/playerawards.asp for the player they feel is the most deserving of each of the following awards:
Most Valuable Player (MVP) sponsored by Maine Medical Center The player who you feel has contributed the most to the team's success this season.
Unsung Hero The player who you feel has surpassed all expectations this season to be one of the club's most valuable assets.
Most Popular Player The player you admire the most.
Only one entry per person for each award and voting will conclude on Sunday, April 1 at midnight ET.
There are also three more player awards, which will be voted on by team players and staff:
Players' Player
Voted on by team members and awarded to the player who shows the highest standards as a teammate.
Tom Ebright Award
Named for the Pirates first owner, the Tom Ebright Award goes to the player who exemplifies the highest standards of integrity both on the ice and in the community, as chosen by the Pirates coaching staff.
Jack Button Award
This award goes to the player judged to be the best NHL prospect by the Phoenix Coyotes organization.
The Pirates team will also recognize one partner who is judged to be the most valuable asset to the organization through the Pirates Partner Award. This can be given to an individual, a group, or a corporate sponsor and will be chosen by the Pirates front office staff.
The Portland Pirates begin a three-game weekend road swing when they meet the Connecticut Whale at the XL Center on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Join the Voice of the Portland Pirates Jeff Mannix for all of the play-by-play action, beginning with the Pirates Pregame Show at 6:45 p.m. The Pirates then will face the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena before concluding the trip Sunday afternoon against the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
