Sound Tigers rally to down Bears in shootout

Down two goals, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers rallied to defeat the BEARS 4-3 in a shootout Saturday at GIANT Center. Despite the loss, HERSHEY moved within three points of first place Norfolk in the East Division race.

The BEARS fired 21 first period shots and scored three times to begin the game. Eric Fehr scored his 22nd goal of the season with Marc Busenburg assisting at 2:20 to give HERSHEY an early 1-0 lead. After Brandon Nolan scored his fourth goal of the season at 7:33, Tomas Fleischmann would take over. Fleischmann scored his 14th of the season at 8:16, and scored again at 18:16 for his 15th of the year. The two goals lifted the BEARS into a 3-1 lead after one period.

Bridgeport would close to within a goal by scoring the only marker of the second period. Robert Nilsson scored his ninth goal of the season at 10:08 while the Tigers were on a five-on-three power play. The BEARS had all 11 shots of the second period stopped by Bridgeport goaltender Wade Dubielewicz, and took a 3-2 lead into the final 20 minutes.

The Sound Tigers tied the game with Eric Boguniecki potting his ninth of the season at 13:37 to tie the game. Forcing overtime, neither team would score despite 10 shots between the two teams. Into the shootout, the BEARS succumbed to the Tigers in five rounds, despite a goal in the shootout from Matt Hendricks. Dubielewicz made a Bridgeport season high 51 saves to win his 12th of the season. Daren Machesney, who came on in relief of an injured Maxime Daigneault after two periods, suffered the loss.
