NORFOLK, VA - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers were beaten 3-1 by the East Division rival Norfolk Admirals at Scope Arena on Wednesday night. The Admirals won their seventh straight game to improve to 7-0-1-0 and the Sound Tigers dropped to 3-3-0-2 despite a valiant effort by goaltender Billy Thompson.

Brandon Bochenski had a goal and an assist and Troy Brouwer snapped a 1-1 tie late in the third period to lift the Admirals, who have earned at least a point in every game to begin the year.

Thompson out-dueled the Rbk X-Pulse/ AHL Goaltender of the Month, Corey Crawford for the better part of two periods before the Admirals struck on the power play at 19:03 of the middle frame. Bochenski redirected a Martin St. Pierre feed for a power play goal to tie the game with his sixth goal of the season. Thompson made 28 saves, including 22 during the first two periods, as the Sound Tigers were out shot 31-23 in the game.

Bridgeport's Sergei Ogorodnikov went end-to-end to score an unassisted goal, his first American Hockey League tally midway through the first period to break a scoreless tie. Ogorodnikov, an Irkutsk, Russia native, previously had a pair of shootout goals in this, his first campaign in the United States. His goal marked the first time Norfolk had allowed its opponent to score first in a game this season.

Norfolk's Chris Durno sealed the win with an empty-netter in the waning seconds as the Admirals handed the Sound Tigers only their second regulation road loss in six road games.

Norfolk, with the AHL's fourth-ranked power play, went 1-for-7 on the man advantage against Bridgeport's league-leading penalty killing unit. Norfolk held Bridgeport scoreless on four power play chances.

The Sound Tigers travel to Binghamton for a game Friday night, visit Portland on Saturday and return to the Arena at Harbor Yard to host Hartford at 4 p.m. for Kids' Opening Day on Sunday, Nov. 5.
