Strong Island Sound News Release

Rockville, MD-After a 1-2 start the Strong Island are on a roll. After a one-point win at Newark, and a solid effort against Cape Cod, the Sound went down to Maryland and came away with a 131-123 victory over the Nighthawks, which was the team's third consecutive.

With less than 24 hours to enjoy their home win on Saturday versus Cape Cod, the Sound did not look for any excuses and led by three points after the first quarter and 12 heading into the locker room at halftime.

In the third quarter the Nighthawks scored an incredible 44 points in the period to make it a two point game heading into the final stanza.

The Sound were able to right the ship and keep their lead long enough for an eight point victory. With the win, the Sound improved their season record to 4-2 and are in first place in the Blue Central Division of the ABA. Maryland is in second place with a 2-3 mark.

Greg Plummer led the Sound with 39 points. Darren 'DP' Phillip had 28 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Another big game from Michael Campbell, who nearly had his second consecutive triple-double with 27 points, 10 assists, and 9 boards. Chris Grant had 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

The Sound will take on the Brooklyn Wonders and Newark Express this weekend at Suffolk Community College in Selden.
