June 20, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA - On Thursday, June 21, as the Philadelphia Soul take on the Orlando Predators, the Soul in conjunction with ProBuild will be working with Rubye's Kids to collect school backpacks for local children. The drive will provide hundreds of needy children in the Philadelphia area with backpacks for the upcoming school year.
Those who wish to donate can drop off the backpacks at one of two collecting stations located at the Broad Street and 11th Street entrances inside the Wachovia Arena. Items will be collected when doors open at 6:00 p.m. until the end of the first quarter.
Dr. Don and Roz Weiss and Rubye Caesar originally created Rubye's Kids to give underprivileged children in Philadelphia a holiday party, which provided the children with a warm meal, gifts, love and attention. In 1995 Rubye passed away and the foundation was named in her honor. Over the last 12 years, the holiday party has grown to include over 500 children from nine schools and three homeless shelters in Philadelphia. They now help children all year round by hosting birthday parties for children in shelters, creating reading corners and libraries in shelters and providing school supplies for needy children.
Pro-Build Holdings currently operates more than 500 lumber and building product distribution, manufacturing and assembly centers throughout the U.S., operating under several regional brands, including United Building Centers, Hope Lumber & Supply, Spenard Builders Supply, Lumbermens, Home Lumber Company, Dixieline Lumber Company, F. E. Wheaton & Company, Strober Building Supply, U.S. Components, and the Contractor Yard.
Fun! Family! Football! The Soul take on the Orlando Predators at the Wachovia Center Thursday, June 21 at 7:00p.m. for their final game of the regular season. Philadelphia will advance to the Wild Card round of the playoffs next week. Single game tickets are available and for more information call (888) PHIL-AFL or log on to www.philadelphiasoul.com. The Soul are entering their fourth season in the AFL and in their three seasons they have sold out 93% of the venue while drawing a League best 387,491 fans combined.
