STATEN ISLAND, NY (July 7, 2018) - Staten Island's Junior Soto clobbered a tie-breaking solo homer in the eighth inning, sinking the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, 3-2 Saturday night in the series opener at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

BIG MOMENTS

Junior Soto's solo home run against Cyclones reliever Billy Oxford in the bottom of the eighth gave the Yankees a 3-2 advantage.

Brooklyn tied the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs on a Staten Island throwing error.

Staten Island scored the first two runs, taking the lead with Junior Soto's RBI single in the second and doubling the lead with Frederick Cuevas' run-scoring base knock in the fifth. KEY CYCLONES CONTRIBUTORS
