Hartford, August 21, 2002 -- Sonar, the Hartford Wolf Pack's team mascot, will be making several appearances in the Hartford area this coming weekend, August 23-25.

"This is a great opportunity for the organization to reach out to the community through these worthwhile events," Wolf Pack General Manager Al Coates said. "The Wolf Pack attempts to have a presence at as many events as possible throughout the summer to show our support for these great community programs and to remind people that the hockey season is fast approaching."

This Friday, August 23, Sonar will join other mascots, television and book characters at the Hartford Public Library for "Head to the Library", an annual fair for graduating Head Start students (4-5 year-olds) and their families. The event, scheduled for 10 AM-12:30 PM, will be a fun-filled day of games, clowns, puppets, crafts, and other activities. Then on Saturday, the 24th, Sonar will visit the Sixth Annual Lobster Festival in East Hartford. The festival raises funds for local children in the Make-A-Wish program, and it takes place at the Elks Pavilion on Roberts St. from 11 AM-8 PM. Sonar will visit with festival-goers throughout the day. Finally, on Sunday, the 25th, he will take part in the IGA Hometown Wheels Festival at the Farmington Polo Grounds in Farmington. This day-long event celebrates family fun with games, music, food and more, and proceeds go to the Hometown Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to support causes throughout New England, New Jersey and Philadelphia. Tickets are available at local IGA stores.

Wolf Pack 2002-03 season-ticket, multi-game, coupon book and group-discount packages are all currently on sale. For further information, contact the Wolf Pack ticket office at 860-548-2000.
