Somerset Patriots send six to All-Star Game

Bridgewater, NJ - The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that six Patriots have been named to the 2006 Atlantic League All-Star Game to be played on Wednesday, July 12th at the Ballpark At Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Patriots third baseman Jeff Nettles, right fielder Ryan Radmanovich, outfielder/ first baseman Larry Barnes, catcher Fernando Lunar, and pitchers Ben Crockett and Mike Johnson.

Nettles is tied for the league lead in home runs with 11 in 58 games played. Nettles is hitting .294 with 39 runs scored, 64 hits, 14 doubles, and 41 RBI. This will be Nettles' fourth straight appearance in the All-Star Game, being selected every year he has been in the league.

Radmanovich is among the league leaders with ten home runs through 50 games played. He is hitting .270 with 30 runs scored, 44 hits, 12 doubles, and 28 RBI. This is Radmanovich's second straight All-Star selection in the Atlantic League.

Barnes is among the league leaders with 40 RBI. He has a .290 batting average with 30 runs scored, 62 hits, 14 doubles, three triples, and nine home runs.

Lunar is among the top defensive catchers in the league and brings his Major League experience to handling Somerset's pitching staff. He has thrown out 22 base runners trying to steal in 41 games played.

Crockett, a right-hander, is among the league leaders in pitching with a 2.32 ERA. He has a 4-4 record with 42 strikeouts in 73.2 innings pitched in ten games started.

Johnson, a right-hander, has three saves for Somerset in his team high 20 appearances. Johnson has a 3-3 record, a 3.52 ERA, and 24 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched.

The 2006 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Thursday with a 7:05 pm game against the Road Warriors. Thursday's game includes a chance for fans to win $10,000 at the ballpark courtesy of Rolling Rock and Car Show Night.
