(Central Islip, N.Y., September 2, 2009)- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Long Island Ducks 3-1 on Wednesday night before a past-capacity crowd of 6,333 at Citibank Park.

Two unearned runs off Ducks' starter Julio Manon gave the Patriots a 2-0 advantage in the top of the second inning. RBI doubles by Joe Burke and Mike Rodriguez did the damage. The Ducks cut the deficit in half as John Pachot's RBI single in the last of the second pushed the score to 2-1.

Somerset got the run back in the top of the fourth as Rodriguez' RBI single increased the Pats' lead to 3-1.

Somerset starter Kip Bouknight (5-8) earned the win firing five innings, surrendering three hits and one run, while fanning four.
