Camden Riversharks News Release

The Camden Riversharks defeated by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs tonight, by a final score of 4-2. Camden starter Michael Flannery (2-3) picked up the win, as he allowed just 1 run on 4 hits in 5 innings of work. Southern Maryland's Jarrett Grube (3-1) suffered the loss, as he gave up 4 runs and 6 hits in 6 innings pitched. With the win, the Riversharks' season tally improves to 23-29, while the Blue Crabs' falls to 31-19.

The Riversharks drew first blood and took an early lead in the 1st inning. A single to right by shortstop Bryant Nelson drove in Wayne Lydon from second base, and gave the Sharks a quick 1-0 lead. The Blue Crabs would tie the game in the 4th inning, courtesy of a sacrifice fly by third baseman Patrick Osborn that plated Mike Just. The RBI was his 64th of the year.

The Sharks' bats would come to life again in the 5th inning, and they would extend their lead. Consecutive doubles by Brian Burgamy, John Purdom, and Ron Fenwick saw Camden bring three runs across the plate, and take a 4-1 lead.

With a four run lead heading into the 9th inning, the Riversharks put the ball in the hands of closer Franklin Perez, who retired the side despite giving up one run, and preserved a 4-2 victory for the home team. The save was his fourth of the year.

The Riversharks and Blue Crabs will wrap up their four game series tomorrow at 7:05 pm. Lefty Josh Brey (6-7, 4.08) will take the mound for the Riversharks, and he will be opposed by left handed pitcher Keith Ramsey (5-2, 4.83) from Southern Maryland. Limited seating for the game is still available. For more information, or to purchase tickets visit www.riversharks.com.
