Sofia Jakobsson Named to Sweden Women's National Team Roster Ahead of UEFA Women's National League Matches

San Diego Wave FC forward Sofia Jakobsson has been named to the Sweden Women's National Team roster for two UEFA Women's National League matches. Following the World Cup, Sweden is currently ranked No. 1 in the FIFA Women's World Ranking.

In Sweden's first match of the inaugural tournament, they will host Spain on Friday, Sept. 22, at 9:30 a.m. PT at Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg, Sweden. The team will then travel to face Italy on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 8:45 a.m. PT at Stade Teofilo Patini.

Jakobsson, 33, has played in 12 appearances (seven starts) for the Wave in 2023. In her second season with the club, she has scored one goal and one assist. The midfielder/forward helped Sweden earn the bronze medal at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, while recording two assists.

Jakobsson and the Wave returns to regular-season action this Saturday, Sept. 16, as the club hosts Latino Heritage Night. The match is slated to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. PT at Snapdragon Stadium with tickets available.
