Snyder, Tripp Have Three Hits Apiece as Keys Even Series

Frederick's bats have awakened from a sluggish June as the Keys got three hit night's from DH Brandon Snyder and RF Brandon Tripp to put a tough series openng loss behind them in a 5-2 win Sunday Night in Lynchburg.

Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning, Snyder started a rally with a leadoff double. He would score on 3B Billy Rowell's RBI-double down the left field line to tie the game at 2-2. The Keys took the lead with 1B Chris Vinyard plated on a two-out wild pitch from Hillcats starter Michael Crotta.

With a runner on and two-down in the seventh inning, Snyder doubled to keep the inning alive. Up came Tripp who delivered his third hit of the night, lacing a double to the right field wall to score two runs giving Frederick a 5-2 lead.

Snyder had his second straight three-hit night going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Tripp went 3-for-4 with two RBI's.

Keys starter Tim Bascom (3-2) allowed just two runs in six innings to pick up his second consecutive win. Relievers Wilfrido Perez, Jeff Moore and Chad Thall each worked a scoreless inning to preserve the win.

Thall picked up his eighth save and has now not allowed an earned run in 11 consecutive outings out of the pen.

The series concludes Monday, July 7th at 7:05 p.m. in Lynchburg with Jake Renshaw atop the hill for the Keys. Frederick returns home for the first ever Peanut Free Night at Harry Grove Stadium Wednesday, July 9th at 7:00 p.m. against Winston-Salem.
