
Snappers Shutout by Bees' Granier

Beloit, WI- An outstanding performance by Bees' starter, Drew Granier, shut down the Snappers at the plate, with the Bees picking up a 3-0 win Monday night at Pohlman Field.
The Bees struck first in the top of the third with an RBI double from catcher John Nester, scoring Michael Fabiaschi who walked, putting the Bees up 1-0.
The Snappers' Ryan O'Rourke made his first start of the season working four innings, allowing only two hits and one run, while striking out five. Tim Atherton relived O'Rourke in the top of the fifth.
John Nester hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth, his second RBI of the game, putting the Bees up 2-0.
The Snappers' Steven Gruver came in for the top of the seventh, reliving Atherton, who went two innings, allowing three hits and one run, while striking out three. Gruver just recently joined the Snappers' bullpen having spent the first half of the season in the starting rotation.
In the top of the eighth, the Bees added another run with an RBI single for Rashun Dixon, scoring Bobby Crocker, who reached on a fielder's choice making it 3-0.
In Granier's start he collected his 100th strikeout of the season in the bottom of the eighth inning. Granier pitched seven and two third scorlesss innings allowing only two hits, while collecting 11 strikeouts. Granier was relieved by Jose Macias with two outs in the eighth.
Macias retired all four batters he faced to finish off the Snappers in the bottom of the ninth.
Clinton Dempster came in for the top of the ninth inning, relieving Gruver. Gruver went two innings, allowing five hits and one run, while striking out two.
The Snappers hit the road Wednesday to take on the Ft. Wayne TinCaps with Tyler Jones on the mound, who is 1-2 with a 2.51 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched. The Snappers return home on Wednesday, July 18th to take on the Lansing Lugnuts at 7:00 PM. Wednesday's are Wild Card Wednesdays at Pohlman Field where we'll pick something to happen in that night's game and if it happens you're all winners!
