Kane County Cougars News Release

After falling into a 3-0 hole early, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers roared back to defeat the Kane County Cougars in a 6-4 ballgame on Monday afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium.

Julio Aparicio put the Cougars (44-44, 10-8) on the board initially as he drilled a home run to straightaway center field in the top of the second against starter David Goforth (6-4). Goforth would cough up two more runs in the third as Danny Mateo tripled home Tim Ferguson while Mateo scored on a three-base hit from Aparicio, giving the Cougars a 3-0 cushion.

Kyle Smith worked 4.1 innings for the Cougars while striking out seven, but he allowed the Timber Rattlers (53-34, 9-9) to grab a run in the bottom of the third as Ben McMahon poked a home run to left-center. Wisconsin evened the score in the fifth as Brandon Macias doubled to chase Smith from the contest before scoring on a single by Nick Ramirez. A groundout from Cameron Garfield brought McMahan to the dish to make it, 3-3.

Wisconsin pulled ahead in the bottom of the sixth against Jason Mitchell (3-5) as the Rattlers strung together four consecutive singles. Chadwin Stang's bunt base hit allowed Max Walla to cross the plate. Adrian Williams scored after stealing third and coming home on a Kenny Swab throwing error. Macias singled in Stang to put Wisconsin up by three. Ferguson added a run for the Cougars in the ninth with a homer off Tommy Toledo (S, 6), but Toledo preserved the lead from there.
