BELOIT, Wisc. (7/9/12) - Drew Granier had accomplished a lot before Monday night, but the right- hander still found a way to dazzle in the Burlington Bees' (43-44, 11-7) victory. Granier helped the Bees shut out the Beloit Snappers (47-41, 8-10) 3-to-0 in the rubber match.

Granier came into the game with an opportunity to achieve several milestones and after the first three innings, it was clear the Snappers couldn't stand in his way. Granier faced the minimum through the first three innings, which gave him a total of 102 innings pitched on the season.

But Granier's night had just started - he would go on to only allow two hits and two walks to the Snap- pers. Granier struck out career-high 11 strikeouts and now leads the league with 102 punch-outs this season.

The right-hander also pitched into the eighth inning for the first time in his career. Granier finished with a career-high 7.2 scoreless innings. Granier didn't simply achieve these season and career mile- stones; the Bees' ace did it in fashion by recording two strikeouts to end his start.

Granier (10-5) earned his league-best tenth win of the season after pitching 7.2 innings, recording 11 strikeouts and only allowing four baserunners.

John Nester called the pitches in Granier's great start and helped his battery mate by going 3-for-4 with an RBI double, a solo home run (4), and a single. Eliezer Mesa also had a good day at the plate with two hits in five at bats and Rashun Dixon recorded an RBI single.

The Bees had eleven hits and did not commit an error and are now 7-5 against the Midwest League West's second-best team from the first half the season. The win meant the Bees remained in first place in the West, and have now won four of their six series in the second half.

The Bees have a day off on Tuesday before hosting the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Wednesday. Game one of the three game series starts at 6:30 p.m.
