BURLINGTON, IA - The Beloit Snappers (2-2) fell to the Burlington Bees (2-1) Tuesday night 4-0 at Community Field in Burlington, IA.
The Snappers fell behind early, as the Bees opened up a 3-0 advantage in the first two innings.
Burlington got on the board first in the bottom half of the first inning with an RBI single by Julio Garcia that plated Jo Addell to give the Bees the early 1-0 lead.
Harrison Wenson then came up in the bottom of the second and hit a two-run home run off Snappers starter Michael Danielak.
Danielak settled down after the first two innings, but only tossed 3.2 IP while surrendering the three runs on five hits while striking out three.
Dakota Chalmers was summoned out of the bullpen with two outs in the fourth inning and tossed 2.2 innings while walking six and fanning five.
Trace Loehr broke up the no-hit-bid early in the bottom of the third inning but it was quickly erased as Jordan Devencenzi bounced into a doubleplay. For Loehr, he has recorded a base hit in every game thus far for the 2018 season.
Burlington added a late insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning, as Joe Adell hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Leonardo Rivas.
The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow, with game one beginning at 4:00 pm and game two thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Jean Ruiz (0-0, 3.60) will get the start for the Snappers in game one, as Left-hander Jared Poche will make his 2018 debut in game two for the Snappers Wednesday evening.
