
Snappers Fall To River Bandits 10-7 In Game Of The Year

BELOIT, WI - The Beloit Snappers (23-25) took a perfect game into the top of the ninth inning leading 6-0, but it all came undone, and the Snappers fell 10-7 in 10 innings.
Antonio Velez started for Beloit, throwing five perfect innings. The Snappers gave him one run of support with a delayed double steal with two outs, bringing home Troy Johnston. Beloit kept the perfect game rolling and added some insurance with a five-run eighth inning. Griffin Conine hit his 13th home run of the season.
To start the ninth inning, Evan Brabrand struck out the first batter. After retiring 25 straight batters, the River Bandits hit three straight singles, and it was 6-1, Beloit. Nick Loftin's RBI single made it 6-2, Down four, River Bandits' outfielder Eric Cole belted one to center field and over the wall for a game-tying grand slam.
The Snappers tied it up at 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning on a sac fly from Johnston. It all came crashing down in the 10th as the Snappers gave up three runs and went down scoreless to lose 10-7.
Beloit's Top Performers: Velez pitched five perfect frames. Johnston doubled to extend his hit streak to 16 games. Conine hit a three-run home run.

- Sunday, July 4 is Family Funday. 2-for-1 select seltzers (White Claw - Mango and Black Cherry, Vizzy and Truly), kids run the bases after the game, and families can have a catch in the outfield. Following Sunday's game fans are allowed to stay and watch the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra perform and a special 4th of July fireworks show.
