
'Snakes Get Back into the Win Column

El Paso, TX-The Blacksnakes' (13-18) offense scored throughout and paced a 10-5 victory over El Paso (12-20). Mark Nussbeck (3-1) won his third straight start with five gutsy innings and the offense tied season-highs in runs and hits in the win.
The 'Snakes struck for runs in five of the nine innings, including a three-spot in the first and did not look back. All nine starters had at least one hit, led by Terrell Merriman's four hits and Wil Quintana's seventh home run of the season. Jake Whitesides also had three hits, a double and two triples.
Nussbeck, who almost did not make the start due to illness, gutted out five innings allowing five hits and a pair of runs-one earned. J.C. Huguet tossed three innings without an earned run and Jaime Tricoglou closed it out with a scoreless ninth.
St. Joe and El Paso will meet in the rubber match Thursday night at Cohen Stadium at 8:05pm Central Time. Shingo Mitsumori (0-2) makes his second start for the 'Snakes against the Diablos' Jason Wiedmeyer (2-3). The broadcast begins with the Heartland Health Pre-Game Show at 7:45pm. St. Joe then heads to Shreveport, LA for a three game weekend series with the Sports before heading home next Monday against St. Paul.
