Tennessee jumped on Adam Wainright (5-5) for four runs on three hits in the first three innings. Wainright walked Bolivar with one out in the second and allowed a double to Corey Erickson that led to the Smokies first run. Yadier Molina grounded out to first to score Bolivar and Erickson scored on a Chris Weekly single to put Tennessee ahead 2-0.
In the third inning Wainright walked Skip Schumaker and hit Canabo Cosme with a pitch an out later to set the table for Bolivar. Bolivar drove home both with a two-out bloop single to right field to give the Smokies a 4-0 lead.
The Braves fought back in the ninth with a run against the Tennessee bullpen. Mike Lyons allowed a one-out single to Cory Aldridge and a run scoring double to Kelly Johnson to make it a one run game. Figueroa replaced Lyons and hit Bryce Terveen with a pitch to put the potential winning run on.
