
Smokies Win 4th Straight

Greenville, SC- Papo Bolivar drove home two runs with a third inning single and Juan Figueroa recorded his second save of the season as Tennessee (6-1, 41-36) won it's fourth consecutive game with a 4-3 win over Greenville (1-6, 37-38) Tuesday night at Municipal Stadium.
Starter Jeremy Cummings (8-6) allowed two runs in the third but struck out seven over 7 2/3 innings to earn the win.
Tennessee jumped on Adam Wainright (5-5) for four runs on three hits in the first three innings. Wainright walked Bolivar with one out in the second and allowed a double to Corey Erickson that led to the Smokies first run. Yadier Molina grounded out to first to score Bolivar and Erickson scored on a Chris Weekly single to put Tennessee ahead 2-0.
In the third inning Wainright walked Skip Schumaker and hit Canabo Cosme with a pitch an out later to set the table for Bolivar. Bolivar drove home both with a two-out bloop single to right field to give the Smokies a 4-0 lead.
The Braves fought back in the ninth with a run against the Tennessee bullpen. Mike Lyons allowed a one-out single to Cory Aldridge and a run scoring double to Kelly Johnson to make it a one run game. Figueroa replaced Lyons and hit Bryce Terveen with a pitch to put the potential winning run on. Figueroa earned his second save of the season by getting pinch-hitter Pete Orr to pop up and Richard Lewis to strike out.
The series concludes Wednesday night with Rick Ankiel (1-5, 3.39) going for the Smokies against Matt Belisle (4-6, 3.54).
