Mobile, Ala. â The BayBears found their wining way on Tuesday night, coming from behind to defeat Birmingham 7-6. Mobile scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the three-game series two games to one. J.J. Trujillo picked up the win in relief of Cory Stewart. Trujillo (1-0) worked two and two-thirds shutout, no hit innings.
The BayBears were in the hole early as the Barons scored twice in the first and once more in the second before the BayBears had a hit.
Humberto Quintero drove in the BayBears first run of the game in the fourth inning on an infield hit. Birmingham answered with two runs of their own in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-1.
The BayBears fought back in the bottom of the frame. Jon Knott connected on his 20th homerun of the season. The three-run shot extended his lead on the Southern League leader board. Mobile tied the score at 5-5 in the sixth as Todd Donovan hit a triple, scoring Quintero from third. Donovan was thrown out at the plate as he tried for the first inside-the-park homerun at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Mobile took the lead for the first time in the seventh. Danny Bravo drove in Rico Washington from third with an infield groundout and Quintero picked up his second RBI of the night with his third hit of the game.
The BayBears will take Wednesday off as they travel to Zebulon, NC. They will begin a four-game series with the Carolina Mudcats beginning Thursday night at 6:15.
