Smokies Take Opener 4-3

JACKSON, Ten. - The Tennessee Smokies tackle West Tenn 4-3 at Pringles Park in front of 4,107 people Monday Night.

Casey Lambert started for the Smokies pitching four innings while allowing just one earned run. He would not factor in the decision but pitched well.

Diamond Jaxx starter, Robert Rohrbaugh is charged with the loss, going five innings while striking out three. He yielded three earned runs on five base hits and drops to 0-2 on the year.

Smokies reliever Vince Perkins was the winner, pitching two scoreless innings. Blake Parker would record the save for the Tennessee, his second of the season. He fanned four of the five batters he faced.

The Jaxx got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. Marshall Hubbard walked to load the bases and Adam Moore hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Erick Monzon.

Johan Limonta lined a 1-1 pitch over the right field wall giving the Diamond Jaxx a 2-0 lead after four.

The Smokies got all the runs they needed in the sixth inning. Darwin Barney opened the frame with a walk and Tony Thomas then tied the game with a two-run homerun. The Smokies would score two more in the inning with a couple run scoring groundouts.

In the sixth, Johan Limonta scored on an error by right fielder James Adduci.

Game two of the series from Pringles Park is on Tuesday night at 8:05. Lefty James Russell (0-2, 8.31) will pitch for Tennessee while Ricky Orta (0-1, 3.86) is scheduled for the Jaxx.
