Jackson, Tenn. (April 21, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (4-8) losing streak moves to seven games, as once again the Jaxx grab an early lead but cannot hold on. The Tennessee Smokies (6-5) came from behind for the second consecutive day to beat the Jaxx, 8-7.

The scoring for the Jaxx started in the first. With one runner on, Marshall Hubbard hit his first homerun on the season, a 2-run shot to right. Two hitters later, Greg Halman hit a 2-run homer to left and the Jaxx would take a 4-0 lead after one inning.

The Smokies took advantage of two errors and two walks in the top of the second inning, scoring five runs on two hits. Diamond Jaxx starter, Ricky Orta left the game after an inning and a third with an injury to his pitching arm. The Smokies led 5-4 after two innings. The Smokies added a run in the fourth and fifth innings leading 7-4 going into the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Diamond Jaxx tallied two runs, one on a bases loaded walk by Greg Halman and the other on an RBI groundout by Johan Limonta. The Jaxx trailed the Smokies 7-6 after five innings.

The Jaxx would make the comeback in the sixth inning as the Jaxx put two on the bases on back-to-back hits by Ronnie Prettyman and Ezequiel Carrera. Prettyman advanced to third on the hit by Carrera and tied the game on a wild pitch by Smokies reliever Alex Maestri.

The Smokies broke the tie in the eighth inning. Catcher, Steve Cleavenger took an 0-1 pitch from Mumba Rivera over the right field wall giving the Smokies an 8-7 lead that they did not vanquish.
