(Jackson, TN) June 1st- Sean Gallagher pitched seven strong innings on Friday night to lift the Tennessee Smokies to a 5-1 win over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx in the rubber game of the five game series from Pringles Park.

Gallagher (7-2) allowed a run on three hits with one walk and nine strikeouts in his seven innings of work. After allowing a two out single in the first inning, Gallagher retired the next twelve batters. He took a one hit shutout into the seventh inning, but gave up a homerun to Marshall Hubbard, his third homer of the season. Greg Reinhard, Jerry Blevins and Geoff Jones combined to allow two hits over the final two innings. The win keeps Tennessee in a tie for first place in the Northern Division with Huntsville.

Doug Fister suffered the loss, dropping his record to 2-6 on the season. Fister allowed four runs (one earned) on eight hits over seven innings of work. The loss drops the Diamond Jaxx five games behind Tennessee and Huntsville with fifteen games left in the first half of the 2007 season.

The Diamond Jaxx open up a five game series against the Mississippi Braves from Trustmark Park in Pearl, MS starting tomorrow night at 7:05 CDT. Left-hander Justin Thomas (1-2 3.23) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Mississippi will counter with lefty Francisley Bueno (2-2 3.09).
